Dr. Russell S. Tomlin

Dr. Tomlin manages faculty and academic personnel issues including, academic appointments, faculty recruitment and retention, faculty review (including post-tenure review) and the promotion and tenure process, salary increases, sabbaticals and leaves, non-tenure track faculty appointments, emeritus faculty, courtesy appointments, the Tenure Reduction Program (TRP), teaching evaluation and recognition, grievances, program review, accreditation, and all other faculty and unclassifed personnel matters.  As a member of the  Department of Linguistics, Dr. Tomlin's scholarship focuses on language and cognition, second language acquisition, and functional and cognitive linguisitc theory.   

Dr. Ken Doxsee

In his role as Associate Vice Provost, Dr. Doxsee's efforts focus on academic infrastructure.  He has operational responsibility for assessment, supports the promotion and tenure processes, and moves forward projects as assigned by the Senior Vice Provost.  Additionally, Dr. Doxsee is a professor of organic, organometallic, solid-state, and analytical chemistry.          

Dr. Gwen Steigelman

Dr. Steigelman is responsible for coordinating the review and approval process for all new academic program proposals within the university, and shepherding them through external review and approval at the system and state levels.  She handles labor certification for foreign national faculty members, oversees the Distinguished Teaching Awards process, serves as the academic affairs liaison on various university committees, and heads up other projects as assigned by the Senior Vice Provost.  In addition, Dr. Steigelman serves as secretary of the University Senate and secretary of the faculty, as appointed by the president for the past 12 years.

Ms. Burton is the Project Management Coordinator for the office and assists the Senior Vice Provost and other office members with the effective and timely completion of office efforts, and through the coordination of office projects and commitments.

Ms. Palanuk provides professional support across a wide range of academic areas, including assisting the Senior Vice Provost with calendaring, scheduling, and related communications as well as serving as Office Manager for Academic Affairs.

Ms. Oar performs an extensive list of responsibilities that aid the office in its daily operations.  Ms. Oar assists the two Associate Vice Provosts with calendaring and other projects as assigned, aids the Executive Assistants, and acts as the primary receptionist for the office.

Mr. Epps is a UO student working towards his bachelor's degree in Philosophy with a minor in Business Administration.  His assistance in Academic Affairs includes but is not limited to office related tasks, back up receptionist duties, and projects as requested.
