The Savage Endowment for International Relations and Peace Committee will oversee the disbursal of $50,000 for two years starting in 2008-09. This sum is used to fund comprehensive programs designed to inspire students to "make their own contribution to the development of reasonableness as a substitute for violence and hate in personal, national and international affairs" These programs allow the University to bring to campus outstanding inpiduals with backgrounds in international relations and peace, and to teach the campus community how to use reason as a substitute for violence and hate. • UO Global Directory Database An information-rich resource for faculty, graduate students and external users, for conducting targeted inquiries to help identify new connections and opportunities within the University's international spectrum. This database is an online directory containing searchable information specifically related to international academic interests. Each record in the database relates to an individual, for which a profile will exist containing a summary of his/her international experiences and expertise. A typical function of the database might include searching for connections between users based on countries, language skills, fields of research and international institutions. Similarly, it could be accessed to identify a group of profiles that all share a common trait (e.g. "read Mandarin Chinese"). The creation of the database is an evolving project and feedback from all faculty members is encouraged.
