Retirement | The Tenure Reduction Program

The Tenure Reduction Program at the University of Oregon was formerly known as 'The 600 Hour Program'.

The Tenure Reduction Program is a retirement option that permits tenured faculty who retire to transition from full-time engagement to complete retirement through a series of part time instructional appointments. The program includes the following provisions:

- A one-time salary increase of 6%
- One term per year of 1.0 FTE academic appointment for up to five years from the date of retirement.
- Participation in the TRP also includes a number of changes in one's academic appointment:

Tenure is fully relinquished on the date of retirement and commencement of participation in the TRP except during terms in which one holds a TRP appointment.  The TRP participant is eligible for full department participation - voting rights consistent with their prior appointment, participation in departmental decision making, and all other academic matters that are available to a tenured faculty in the department, school or college, and the university, but this eligibility is limited to terms during which a TRP appointment is held.
