Special Initiatives

The University of Oregon prioritizes initiatives that serve the institution and its members, the surrounding community, and the state of Oregon. As a top research institute in the nation, matters of priority often are those of global interest as well. As the needs of our population change, so do our initiatives and consequently our efforts and attentions.

  • In prioritizing a campus that is enriched and informed by the personal, cultural, and intellectual differences of its students, faculty, staff, and visitors, the University of Oregon has adopted an overarching diversity plan that has resulted in individual commitments from every college, school, and unit on campus. For additional information on these diversity efforts and more check out the Diversity link.
  • The University of Oregon depends on a great many non-tenure-track faculty (NTTF) in both its instructional programs and in its research efforts. Because these faculty are crucial to our overall success, priority has been placed on reviewing and upgrading many of the practices and procedures that affect NTTF. These practices and procedures can be found on the NTTF Initiative link.
  • By placing emphasis on the importance of Family Friendly Practices, the University confirms the value of faculty, staff, and students while striving to remove barriers, enhance possibilities, and improve morale, health and productivity. Current practices and efforts can be found at the Family Friendly Practices link
