Educational Technology Committee 2003-2004


Call for Proposals

Deadline: March 5, 2004

The Educational Technology Committee is charged with the allocation of funds to support campus instructional technology and facilities (including classroom improvements, student labs, network infrastructure), faculty development or training in the use of technology resources, and curriculum development.

A significant percentage of the fees collected support ongoing programs, such as computer labs on campus. Another percentage is allocated by Academic Affairs to the deans to make improvements in educational technology within their respective schools and colleges. The remaining funds can be used to support requests for equipment, software, student wages, curriculum development, training, and facilities improvement.

The Educational Technology Committee is soliciting proposals from the campus community during winter term. Highest priority will be given to proposals aimed at integrating technology into the learning environment to enhance the teaching and learning process. In addition this overarching goal, the committee will give priority to applications that:

  • Expand the use of new technologies, e.g. integration of video on demand for the delivery of course content.
  • Build collaborative learning environments
  • Improve student-student and student-teacher communication
  • Facilitate student research in discipline specific areas
  • Create more flexible learning environments

Proposals will be reviewed based on the following general criteria:

  • Impact on teaching and learning objectives
  • Clarity of benefits and costs
  • Creativity
  • Level of prior Ed Tech funding
  • Demonstrated student demand/interest
  • Number of students affected (directly and indirectly)
  • Costs. (proposals should fall within $15K to $75K)
