President's Welcome

President Dave Frohnmayer
Welcome from President Dave Frohnmayer

Let me add my warm personal welcome to those greetings you have already received. We are happy that you have chosen the University of Oregon at this important stage of your career.

When I joined this faculty for the first time thirty-five years ago, no formal faculty orientation existed. Yet my wife (of six days) and I found this community to be a source of wonderful personal friendships and rewarding professional opportunities.

I trust that your orientation will help to nurture the same feeling of community I experienced those many years ago. This is a vibrant campus that is noted for an unusual degree of faculty cohesion, institutional loyalty, dedication to the joy of learning, and creative personal energy.

If my staff or I can be of assistance to you, please feel free to call at 346-3036. In addition to office appointments or telephone calls, I can be reached by e-mail at pres@uoregon.edu.

You have my best wishes for good fortune in your professional and personal pursuits at the University of Oregon. We are very grateful that you have joined our ranks.

Provost's Welcome
