Fall Workshops

Last week we emailed you about an important new workshop series for unit heads. We hope you will take advantage of these workshops, and provide us with feedback as we work to develop meaningful training opportunities. In addition to workshops for unit heads, the Office of the Provost and Academic Affairs will be offering the following opportunities for faculty.

Unit Head Workshop Series

The Office of the Provost and Academic Affairs is pleased to announce a newly developed workshop series for unit heads. In partnership with Human Resources, the Vice President for Research and Innovation, and the Vice President for Finance and Administration, we have developed a series of workshops and Q&A sessions throughout the year.

Academic Policy Update 2015-16

The following academic policies were approved by the Senate during the AY 2015-16. All of these policies take effect fall 2016 (except #1 which is effective summer 2016). Please take a moment to review these to understand the implications in your programs for students, faculty, and staff.

Initiation of NTTF promotion review for 2016-17 academic year

We are writing to remind the community of the process by which career NTTF must initiate consideration for promotion at the University of Oregon. Please distribute this message to career NTTF and unit heads/directors by no later than May 20, 2016.

Clarification of process for Career NTTF renewals

This message serves as clarification of the renewal notification process for bargaining-unit, career non-tenure-track faculty (NTTF). Further information on the non-renewal notification process was provided in a January 28, 2016 email.

Sabbatical deadline reminder

February 11, 2016

Dear Colleagues,

This is a reminder that the university-wide deadline for sabbatical leave requests for AY17 is February 29, 2016.  You may wish to note that the deadline to submit sabbatical leave requests to Academic Affairs is always the last work day in February. Please distribute this message to your units.

Welcome Mariann Hyland, Assistant Vice Provost for Academic Affairs

Dear Colleagues,

It is my pleasure to welcome Mariann Hyland to the university as Assistant Vice Provost for Academic Affairs. Mariann’s responsibilities will focus primarily on faculty personnel issues and she will serve as the chief Academic Affairs liaison with United Academics and Human Resources’ Employee and Labor Relations team. Additionally, Mariann will support the Office of the Provost and Academic Affairs with policy review and development.

TTF offer letter template

Dear Colleagues,

To assist you in the hiring process, the Office of the Provost and Academic Affairs has posted an offer letter template focused on tenure-related faculty. This template is based on efforts within the College of Arts and Sciences to standardize offer letters. I am grateful to Associate Dean Karen Ford for her assistance in responding to this need in CAS and, by extension, the university. The template responds to most, if not all, variations for making an offer.

Notice of renewal/non-renewal for career NTTF
