Changes in process for NTTF promotions

December 8, 2015

Dear Colleagues,

This message is to alert you of two changes in the process for NTTF promotion cases. Please forward to your units as appropriate.

First, beginning this year, the Office of the Provost and Academic Affairs will provide NTTF promotion decision letters in time for distribution by the dean (or for RI, centers/unit heads) on May 16. This process parallels that of the May 1 TTF promotion and tenure letter distribution. Our goal is to have deans (or for RI, centers/unit heads) distribute NTTF promotion notices on the same day and we ask that you plan for that day accordingly.

Second, we have received a number of questions regarding how to calculate FTE eligibility for NTTF promotion cases.  The attached “Worksheet for NTTF Eligibility for Promotion” was developed to assist faculty and departments in making these calculations. Ideally, this form will be used early in the promotion process when NTTF are considering coming up for promotion.

Department heads, unit directors, and/or office managers should work with the faculty member to determine promotion eligibility using the worksheet before beginning the assembly of a promotion dossier.

For promotion cases to be submitted this year (AY 15/16), we ask that you submit a copy of the worksheet along with the final digital promotion dossier.  For promotion cases coming up in AY 16/17, there will be a place built into the dossier to include the worksheet as evidence of eligibility for promotion.

The Worksheet for NTTF Eligibility for Promotion can be found on the Academic Affairs website /promotion.
