June 15 unit head onboarding

May 31, 2018

Dear Colleagues,

On June 15th the Office of the Provost is holding a new unit head onboarding and training day from 8:30 a.m.-3:30 p.m. in the Browsing Room (106) of the Knight Library. The target participant group is new unit heads (department heads, program directors, associate deans, etc.). Some current unit heads have asked to attend, so this email is to clarify that current unit heads and managers are indeed welcome to participate. Please register so we know whom to expect. Personalized binders will be created for those who have registered. If you only plan to be there for a portion of the day, you can indicate that when you register in MyTrack (in the “Required Information” comment box).

The outcomes of the program include:

Leadership: Develop knowledge, skills, and abilities of leadership including vision, inclusion, culture, climate, curriculum, business management, and others.
People Management: Support and manage unit and faculty in ways that lead to successful and longstanding careers, as well as excellence in teaching and scholarship.
Policy and Procedures: Access, understand, and follow policies and procedures described in the campus collective bargaining agreements, as well as university and unit policy libraries.
